By paying the semester fee once every semester, you gain access to services and offers that contribute to a better student experience.

You can think of it as a shared contribution by the students. The money is spent on services and offers for you and your fellow students to improve your student life.

This is what you gain access to:

Sit has the objective of ensuring that its services and offers are free or as affordable as possible for students. When you have paid the semester fee, you can for instance:

  • Enjoy student prices at all Sit fitness centres
  • Apply for one of more than 7,000 Sit rooms and flats
  • Get help with your physical and mental health
  • Get access to childcare adapted to your needs as a student parent
  • Attend courses and programmes to enhance your coping skills
  • Buy food and drinks at student-friendly prices
  • Take part in activities, events and social meeting places throughout the academic year

What your contribution pays for

The semester fee is NOK 700 per semester (June 2026). The money is used to develop and fund student welfare services. Decisions about how the money is spent are made by the students through the Student Welfare Councils in Gjøvik, Ålesund and Trondheim.

The semester fee primarily funds welfare services such as:

  • Support for student volunteer associations and organisations
  • Student sports
  • Mental health services
  • Counselling and courses to enhance coping skills
  • Other social services for students
