General information

Sit Trening is a part of Studentsamskipnaden i Gjøvik, Ålesund og Trondheim (Sit). The rules and terms are a part of the agreement about membership between the named buyer and Sit Trening, and must be approved when buying a membership. As a member of Sit Trening, you are obligated to comply with the current membership terms and conditions, as well as the code of conduct, available under “Trening” at sit.no.

Sit Trening reserves the right to terminate the membership agreement with immediate effect in the event of a breach of the membership terms or the code of conduct, or if the member has failed to comply with a warning issued by Sit Trening.

Membership

Membership terms and pricing are outlined in the current description of products, services, and prices available at sit.no. The membership remains active from the date of agreement until termination. Termination takes effect in accordance with the applicable conditions; see “Termination of Membership” for details.

When entering into a membership agreement with a binding period, the minimum commitment is 12 paying calendar months. Upon expiry of the binding period, the membership will automatically convert into a rolling agreement.

Age requirement

Members must be at least 16 years old to purchase their own membership and train independently. Individuals between the ages of 13 and 16 may train when accompanied by a parent or guardian. All individuals under the age of 18 must be associated with an adult member who is either their parent or legal guardian and can assume responsibility for them.

Access card / Mobile entry

The training card or NTNU card must be scanned at the card reader each time the member enters one of Sit’s fitness centres. If the member uses the centre’s app and mobile access, the visit must be registered in the app by opening a gate or door.

A membership is personal and may not be used by others. In cases of misuse — such as lending the membership card to someone else or allowing others to enter using the app — the membership will be temporarily suspended.

If the training card is lost or damaged, it will be blocked and a new card will be issued for a fee of NOK 50 (this does not apply to members with an NTNU card, who must obtain a replacement card directly from NTNU).

Pricing

Prices are determined based on the current price list available at sit.no. To obtain and maintain the student discount, the member must present valid student identification and proof of paid semester fee. The member is obligated to inform Sit Trening of any circumstances that may affect the pricing of their membership or other services.

If the membership price changes due to missing documentation for a discounted membership, the membership will continue at the new rate, at a minimum for the duration of any applicable binding period. In cases of missing documentation, the member will be invoiced retroactively for the price difference.

Sit Trening reserves the right to adjust membership prices. Any price adjustments will be reflected in the updated price list on sit.no and communicated through relevant channels.

Payment

Rolling membership and payment via AvtaleGiro:

Rolling memberships are paid monthly. AvtaleGiro (direct debit) is a payment agreement between you and your bank. To use AvtaleGiro, you must have a Norwegian bank account and be at least 18 years old.

With AvtaleGiro, the membership fee is automatically deducted from your bank account each month. The due date is the 20th of each month.

The member is responsible for paying the membership fee and for establishing the AvtaleGiro agreement with their bank. If AvtaleGiro is not set up, an invoice fee will apply starting from the first invoice.

If the member fails to pay by the due date, a debt collection notice will be issued. In the event of delayed payment, Sit Trening may claim reimbursement for costs and interest in accordance with the Norwegian Act on Interest on Overdue Payments, etc.

When entering into a monthly membership with AvtaleGiro, the member pays for the remaining days of the current month as well as the full following month upon registration.

If the member chooses a 12-month binding membership that includes a sports club fee, an annual fee of NOK 50 will be charged at the time of purchase and once per year thereafter, even after the binding period has ended. This annual fee includes contributions to the sports clubs supported by Sit Trening (NTNUI, BIA, and DMMHI).

Fixed-term membership and advance payment

Certain memberships may be purchased with a one-time payment. These are referred to as “fixed-term memberships.” In such cases, the full amount for the membership period is paid in a single transaction upon registration. No price adjustments will be made during the validity period of the fixed-term membership, and the agreement cannot be terminated within the prepaid period. Advance payments are non-refundable unless the member exercises the 14-day right of withdrawal.

Right of withdrawal

If the membership agreement is entered outside of a Sit fitness centre, the member has the right to withdraw from the agreement by providing written notice to Sit Trening within 14 days of entering into the membership agreement, in accordance with Section 21 of the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act. A withdrawal form is included in the order confirmation received after purchase.

Membership freeze

A “freeze” refers to a temporary suspension of a training membership for a limited period. The membership cannot be used during the frozen period, and upcoming invoices will be postponed accordingly. A freeze can be initiated starting from the following day and must cover full calendar months. It is not possible to freeze the membership during the termination notice period.

Memberships with a binding period may be frozen for up to two (2) months during the first year of the binding period, while non-binding memberships may be frozen for one (1) month per calendar year.

A freeze can be registered via self-service by logging into the Sit Trening app under “Min side” → “Medlemskap,” or by sending an email to trening@sit.no. The email must include the subject line “Freeze,” personal details, and the desired freeze period.

Freezing is only available for memberships paid monthly via AvtaleGiro and does not apply to prepaid fixed-term memberships.

Termination of membership

The notice period is one (1) month, starting from the first day of the following calendar month. Memberships with a binding period will continue until the end of the binding period, regardless of when the termination is registered. After the binding period has ended, the membership is subject to a one (1) month notice period.

Termination of membership can be registered by logging into the Sit Trening app under “Min Side” → “Medlemskap,” or by sending an email to trening@sit.no. The email must include the subject line “Termination,” personal details, and the desired termination date.

The notice period does not apply to prepaid fixed-term memberships, which have a set expiration date..

Consent

By entering the Membership Agreement, the member consents to Sit Trening contacting them (via SMS, MMS, email, etc.) to provide information about and/or market its services, in accordance with Section 15 of the Norwegian Marketing Control Act. The member may manage their consent to receive marketing communications at any time via sit.no.

Safety

The member is personally responsible for being in suitable health to use the fitness centres. All training at Sit Trening is undertaken at the member’s own risk. Sit Trening is not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings due to burglary or other causes. Sit Trening maintains a zero-tolerance policy for threatening behaviour, violence, and unwanted sexual advances.

Climbing

Members must be at least 18 years old to use the climbing wall. Each member is personally responsible for holding a valid climbing certification (“brattkort”), possessing the necessary safety skills for climbing wall use, and using approved climbing equipment. Members are also responsible for doing their utmost to ensure their own safety as well as the safety of others.

Anti-doping and clean centre policy

Sit Trening has an agreement with Anti-Doping Norway to ensure that its centres remain free from doping. By becoming a member of Sit Trening, you confirm that you do not use any form of stimulants or doping substances listed by Anti-Doping Norway. The updated list is available at antidoping.no.

If there is suspicion of doping use, you may be invited to a meeting. During this meeting, you will be presented with a self-declaration form to be signed voluntarily, and you may be asked to undergo a doping test. A positive doping test, refusal to complete the self-declaration form, or failure to attend the doping test is considered a material breach of the membership agreement and will result in immediate termination of the agreement.

As of 1 July 2013, the use of doping substances is criminalised under Section 24a of the Norwegian Medicines Act. Use of—or suspicion of use of—doping substances at Sit Trening’s fitness centres may be reported to the police.

Alcohol Prohibition: It is strictly prohibited to bring or consume alcohol on Sit Trening’s premises.

Other

Sit Trening reserves the right to close all or parts of its facilities on public holidays, and to reduce opening hours during vacation periods and official holidays. Members should expect occasional closures—either partial or full—or reduced opening hours due to necessary maintenance or other operational needs.

Sit Trening is not liable for any hindrance or limitation in training opportunities caused by circumstances beyond the control of the fitness industry, and which could not reasonably have been foreseen, avoided, or overcome (Force Majeure).

Members will always find the most up-to-date terms, guidelines, and usage rules at sit.no. We also recommend reviewing the FAQ regularly.
