Environmental criteria in our procurement

Sit wants to make it easier for students to live in an environmentally friendly way. Consequently, our procurements must be well-considered and responsible.

By setting clear environmental criteria for our suppliers, we can reduce unnecessary emissions, minimise waste and contribute to solutions that are more durable and have the lowest possible impact on the environment.

How we assess suppliers’ goods and services

When making purchases, we consider the full life cycle of a product or service. This includes how it is produced, the energy and resources required and its overall carbon footprint. Our aim is to choose options that are long-lasting, reusable or repairable and that generate as little waste as possible.

We prioritise products with low production emissions and deliveries that avoid single-use plastics. Where possible, transport should be zero or low emission. We also favour services that can be delivered with minimal energy use and environmental impact.

In short, we look for alternatives that make it easier to make sustainable everyday choices on campus and that create a clear, long-term positive impact.

Environmental certifications

We will require certifications of systems, products and value chains that show that suppliers are working to increase sustainability and reduce their climate footprint and destruction of nature.

Climate and environmental targets in the agreements

We set clear targets for lower emissions, reduced waste and more efficient use of resources every time we make a purchase or enter into an agreement with a supplier. We follow up these targets throughout the contract period and collaborate with suppliers to find solutions that lead to meaningful improvements.

Do you want to become our supplier?

To be considered as a supplier to Sit, you must be able to offer environmentally friendly goods, services or solutions and demonstrate continuous, tangible actions to reduce your environmental and climate impact.

We are looking for partners who can deliver goods and services that:

  • last a long time, can be reused or generate little waste
  • are produced and delivered with low emissions
  • can document how they work to reduce their environmental and climate impact
