So you've got a student housing through Sit, and now you're wondering what happens next? We've tried to answer the most frequently asked questions.

There's a lot to keep track of when moving, especially if it's your first time and you're going to a new city, or even a new country, as well. Below we've answered some of the things our tenants ask about the most.

  • When can I move in, at the earliest?
Answer: The same day as your contract starts.
  • Do I have to collect my key on the exact day that my contract starts?
Answer: No, but you can not collect it earlier than on the day your contract starts.
  • If I collect my key later than than the date my contract starts, do I still have to pay rent from the day the day the contract starts?
    Answer: Yes.
  • Can I collect my house key if I arrive in town outside opening hours?
Answer: Yes. There are two ways to do this: 1) You send us a written consent for another person to collect the key from the reception for you. 2) You can request access to a key box. Please be aware that there are a limited number of key boxes, and that we give priority to international students arriving from abroad. Please contact us for more information about both options
  • What sort of furniture and other equipment can be found in the kitchen and elsewhere in the apartment?
Answer: You must bring your own duvet, pillow and bedlinen. You must supply your own kitchen utensils, cleaning equipment, etc.
    Inventories for Gjøvik.
  • Can I bring my dog/cat/goldfish/other pet?
Answer: No. Pets are not allowed in any Sit housing. Exceptions are made for seeing eye dogs and certified service dogs.

  • When should I pay my first invoice?
Answer: Wait until you receive an invoice at bolig.sit.no.  You will be notified by email to the email address you have registered as your username when an invoice is available. You can pay by bank transfer, Bankaxess (Norwegian bank accounts only), VISA or Mastercard. It is also possible to pay the rent with cashcard in the reception.
