Soppen Student Kindergarten

In Gjøvik, we own and operate Soppen Student Kindergarten. We have a separate department for the youngest children. The kindergarten offers approximately 36 places for children aged 0–6. The kindergarten is in the heart of the university campus at Kallerud, with easy access to NTNU, student housing and the town centre. We have a large outdoor area with plenty of green space, which encourages varied play and physical activity.

Good learning environment

Our aim is to ensure that every child at our kindergarten develops a positive self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities. We attach great importance to the cooperation between staff and parents to create the best possible learning environment. Relational skills and language stimulation are important priority areas.

Our staff are committed to recognising and respecting every child and ensuring they feel seen. The children must be taken seriously and be consulted about their daily routines. This requires engaged adults who take an active part in play and activities on the children’s terms.

Food

The children are served all their meals while at the kindergarten. We start the day with oatmeal porridge followed by a hot lunch and an afternoon snack including fruit.

We are committed to ensuring the mealtimes are enjoyable gatherings for children and adults alike, providing opportunities for good conversations and reflections.
