Play has a key role at the student kindergartens, promoting creativity and creating good meeting places for community.

Play has a central place at our student kindergartens. Children play because it’s fun and enjoyable. Play has an intrinsic value because it’s a fundamental way of encountering the world. Play forms an important foundation for socialising, for children and adults alike. Play is important for children’s formative development and promotes creativity, imagination, joy and engagement.

Facilitating a playful community involves focusing on creating good meeting places. From a philosophical perspective, this can be a place where we meet, something that brings us together or a place where we can be together about something. The key is the meeting between the children, the educators, the arena and the materials. A good meeting place is characterized by a playful community. The role of the educators is to facilitate play and exploration by being participants, guides and role models for the children.
