Who can apply for SiT housing?
Students paying "semester fee" can apply for housing. NTNU International office will book rooms for exchange students. Self financed PhD candidates can not apply for student accommodation.

Before Arrival
Begin making things easy for yourself before leaving home. Below you will find several points that will make your arrival to a foreign place a little more efficient.

A place to live
If you are an international student attending an exchange program, contact the International Office at NTNU or HiST, and they may book a room for you. Only International Office can book rooms, you can not apply yourself. PhD candidates can not apply for SiT housing.

Deposit Settlement
We will try to pay back your deposit as soon as possible within 2 months after the expiry date of your contract. We refer you to § 3 of your tenancy agreement. We try to shorten your waiting time, but it can take a while in periods when lots of people move out.

Paying your deposit
All of our international residents are required to pay a deposit of NOK 5000,- (single room) when signing the contract. The giro is found in the same document as your contract. A transfer would take approx 14 days, so please email the receipt toghether with your signed contract. An international bank will often charge a fee aswell, so you should consider transferring a higher amount (e.g NOK 5100). If you pay too much, this will be withdrawn from your first bill.
