SiT aims to give you a high quality student life.
SiT provides student services in Trondheim. We work to make sure that students may enjoy a comfortable life besides their studies.
SiT ensures student welfare, including medical treatment, social work, psycological treatment, sports activities, kindergartens and refunds for students with very high health expenses. SiT cateres for students at the University and the University Colleges in Trondheim, and was founded in 1948. SiT promotes the welfare of almost 30 thousand students at NTNU, HiST and DMMH.

Although these organizations have the strategic responsibility for student facilities, the practical responsibility has been delegated to SiT. Our activities are subject to law, and the Ministry of Education and Research ensures that SiT's work is carried out according to regulations.

Some of the activities are financed by the semester fee, which all students are expected to pay to SiT. In addition, SiT runs a number of facilities for students, such as student housing, cafes and bookshops. We aim to provide essential services to students at the lowest possible cost - yet make enough profit to cover the expences. SiT is also involved in external, commercial activities such as a travel agency and an academic press. The profits from these operations also benefit students in Trondheim.
