Moholt student village
Most international students will get a room reserved from international office at NTNU, DMMH or HiST the first time they come to Trondheim. If you are not an exchange student, you have to find accomodation yourself. Check with your contact person at NTNU, DMMH or HiST before you apply.
SiT Housing has flats for singles, couples and families with children. Whether you are a young aspiring student just starting out, or a more experienced student seeking comfort and a central location, we can offer you suitable housing. In a student village, you're always close to a potential friend!
You probably have an opinion about how you want your ideal housing situation to be, including thoughts about the size, standard and facilities of your flat, and whether you wish to live alone or close to other students. Most of the students in Trondheim live in shared houses either owned by SiT or privately.
Now adjust your ideal situation according to your budget range. You can have single rooms in shared houses from 3000 NOK monthly and up to 5000 NOK, while couple and family apartments range from 6000 - 10 000 NOK (1 Euro is approximately 8-9 NOK). The monthly rent is more dependent on proximity to the city centre/university/college than the size of the apartment. Keep in mind that landlords may demand up to 6 months rent in deposit fees. Usually, private lessors require 3 months of rent in deposit fees. If you choose SiT, we charge 5000 NOK deposit for single rooms and 8000 NOK for apartments. Go to application form
Buy a map of Trondheim when you start looking for a place to live. Check the distances between the housing unit, the university/college and the city centre. Check the bus connections. On a decent bike, you can get around Trondheim almost all year. If you have a car, location may not be that important?
There are few opportunities to find an apartment in August/September, so consider yourself lucky receiving an offer at all during that time. House-hunting becomes easier later in fall. Keep in mind that contracts committing you to rent an entire year is quite common among private house owners. These contracts can normally not be cancelled if you wish to change your housing situation during this period.
