How the Semester Fee is spent

Semester fees are spent on student needs.
At semester start you - and all the other students - must pay the semester fee to SiT. The size of the fee and how to spend it is decided by the students in the Welfare Council.
All students in Norway must pay a semester fee in order to receive: a student loan, a student card and permission to take the exams. The fee to SiT currently amounts to NOK 420. The students in the Welfare Council decide how to spend the students' money.
Here are some of the things your money are spent on:
- mental healthcare
- a health care centre
- a health station
- refunds for students with high medical and dental expenses
- councelling and courses on how to cope with student challenges
- kindergartens
- ISFiT
- NTNUI and Hissi (student sports)
- the students own skiing hut
- training facilities in SiT's two training centres
- Studentmedia (different media channels for students)
- free legal advise
- the student priests
- the running of the Welfare council
- student organizations and teams
- cultural activities for students
