Health and welfare survey

The results from our "Health- and welfare survey among international students in Trondheim 2009” show that the international students are highly competent and hard working.

The general impression is that international students in Trondheim are content, and have a positive approach to being students in Trondheim. Their main problem is the lack of feeling incorporated, mainly due to the language barrier. Many international students also suffer from loneliness.

The international students have the same challenges as Norwegian students regarding worries about their study situation, ie. time spent on studies and anxiety about exams. (Similar surveys were conducted among Norwegian students in 2004 and 2007.)

Our main challenge now is to reduce the boundaries for international students to participate in the student fellowship in Trondheim. SiT will be establishing a working group with participants from the university, colleges, Trondheim Council and ICOT and ISU. Together these representatives will form a plan for future action.
